More About Verbena ‘Lanai® Scarlet’
Verbena ‘Lanai® Scarlet’ delivers intense scarlet-red flower clusters that bring strong contrast and energy to container plantings. The bold color reads clearly from a distance, making it an excellent choice for high-impact planters and mixed containers.
As part of the Lanai® series, this variety was bred for compact growth and consistent container performance. Plants stay tidy and well-branched, producing steady blooms without stretching or overpowering neighboring plants.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In trials, ‘Lanai® Scarlet’ stood out for its uniform habit and reliable flowering in full sun. It filled containers evenly, held its shape through summer heat, and maintained strong color without fading.
We especially like it for bold color schemes and patriotic plantings where controlled growth and consistent performance are essential.
Lanai® Scarlet vs. Other Verbena
Scarlet is the bold color anchor of the Lanai® Series, delivering true scarlet-red blooms with strong visual weight. It is known for clarity of color and reliability in full sun. Compared to Candy Cane, Scarlet is cleaner and more saturated, while offering more intensity than Peach or Lanai® Lilac. It is often used as a focal color rather than a blender. Scarlet is the strongest single-color statement in the Lanai® lineup.
EnduraScape™ Red spreads more and behaves as a perennial in warm zones, while Lanai® Scarlet stays compact and seasonal. Lascar™ Orange Lava is hotter and more aggressive, but Scarlet is more controlled. Compared to Homestead Hot Pink, Scarlet is tighter, shorter, and more intentional. Gardeners who want a bold red color without sprawl will prefer Lanai® Scarlet.
