More About Iberis ‘Snow Flurries’
Iberis ‘Snow Flurries’ is a standout candytuft variety known for its exceptional flower power and crisp, early-spring presence. During peak bloom, the plant produces dense clusters of bright white flowers that nearly cover the foliage, creating a dramatic, snow-like effect along borders and edges. The blooms sit just above compact, evergreen foliage, giving the plant a clean, intentional look even when planted in mass.
This variety maintains a low, mounded habit that spreads evenly without becoming woody or unruly over time. Like other candytufts, ‘Snow Flurries’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and performs especially well in rock gardens, slopes, and other areas where drainage is critical. Its evergreen foliage provides year-round structure, making it a strong landscape performer even outside of bloom season.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, Iberis ‘Snow Flurries’ consistently delivered some of the heaviest and most uniform bloom coverage of any candytuft we’ve grown. The plants flowered evenly across the canopy rather than in patches, creating a bold but controlled display that held well through the peak of the bloom window. We also noted excellent plant density, with foliage staying tight and compact beneath the flowers.
What impressed us most was how clean and polished the plant remained as blooms aged. Even as flowers faded, ‘Snow Flurries’ avoided the messy, uneven look that can develop in high-bloom varieties. We especially like it for gardeners who want maximum spring impact with minimal upkeep, particularly in borders, mass plantings, and high-visibility areas where a strong early-season statement matters.
Snow Flurries vs. Other Candytuft Varieties
Iberis ‘Snow Flurries’ distinguishes itself by producing some of the heaviest flower coverage of any candytuft variety. During peak bloom, the plant is nearly obscured by dense clusters of white flowers, creating a dramatic, snow-covered effect. Its compact, uniform habit keeps that abundance looking intentional rather than messy.
When compared to Iberis ‘Purity’, Snow Flurries offers more visual impact and bloom density, while Purity provides a calmer, more traditional look. Against ‘Candy Sorbet’’, Snow Flurries is bolder and more graphic, favoring massed white color over subtle tonal shifts. Candy Sorbet brings softness and nuance, while Snow Flurries excels at high-contrast spring drama. Gardeners love Snow Flurries for maximum spring impact in a clean, low-maintenance form.
