More About Torenia ‘White Moon™’
Torenia ‘White Moon™’ is a compact, shade-loving annual bred for clean, reliable white color through the heat of summer. The blooms are crisp and bright with a soft golden throat that adds warmth without muddying the white. Plants form a neat, mounded habit with strong branching, staying full and balanced rather than stretching as the season progresses. Flowering begins in late spring and continues steadily through frost with no deadheading required. The self-cleaning flowers and uniform structure make it an easy plant to keep looking fresh all season.
This variety excels in partial to full shade, especially in humid climates where white flowers often discolor or decline. ‘White Moon™’ holds its clarity and continues blooming even during prolonged summer heat, provided it receives consistent moisture. It tolerates gentle morning sun but performs best when protected from intense afternoon exposure. Because of its compact size, it fits neatly into containers, window boxes, and the front of shaded borders. Overall, it’s a dependable way to add light and structure to darker garden spaces.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, ‘White Moon™’ quickly became our go-to white for shade containers. While many white annuals yellowed or thinned out by midsummer, this one stayed crisp and uniform. We first tried White Moon™ in a mixed shade planter near our greenhouse, where it ended up being the element that held everything together visually. It never demanded trimming and kept blooming right alongside darker companions. That kind of consistency is exactly why we continue to grow it year after year.
