Reggie Meehan

Regina “Reggie” Meehan is a lifelong gardener with over 50 years of hands-on experience. Born in Japan and raised in the United States, Reggie began gardening as a young girl alongside her mother—a passion that would shape every stage of her life. While raising a child and enjoying a successful career as an Environmental Engineer, including consulting for the EPA and running her own firm, Reggie always made time to design home landscapes, tend family gardens, and cultivate beauty wherever she lived.

After more than 15 years in Greenville, SC, Reggie discovered Martin Garden Center and saw an opportunity to turn her lifelong passion into a second career. In 2014, she purchased the five-acre property—already known as one of the Upstate’s top plant destinations—and used her savings from engineering to invest in its future. As Chief Inspiration Officer, she expanded the center’s footprint by acquiring surrounding land, building new greenhouses, and enriching the plant selection to include thousands of annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs.

Her leadership has been both visionary and community-focused. In 2019, she transitioned Martin Garden Center into partial employee ownership to recognize the hardworking team whose unique personalities shape the customer experience. That same year, she faced a major challenge when vandals sprayed herbicide throughout the nursery, damaging over 15,000 plants and causing $150,000 in losses. With resilience and grace, Reggie led the recovery efforts with the help of dedicated volunteers and loyal customers.

Though now semi-retired in 2025, Reggie remains a vital part of the gardening community. As a regular contributor to Garden Delivery, she continues to share her deep-rooted knowledge, creativity, and love for plants with gardeners across the region.
