More About Verbena ‘Lanai® Blue’
Verbena ‘Lanai® Blue’ delivers clean blue-violet flower clusters on a compact, controlled plant that stays neat throughout the season. The color is clear and saturated, making it a favorite for containers and mixed planters where balanced growth and dependable bloom matter.
Part of the Lanai® series, this variety was bred specifically for uniformity and container performance. Plants branch well, flower heavily, and maintain a tidy habit without excessive stretching, even as summer temperatures rise.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In trials, ‘Lanai® Blue’ consistently impressed with its compact form and steady bloom production. It filled containers evenly and maintained good color without overwhelming companion plants.
We especially like it for smaller spaces and mixed plantings where control is important. It provides reliable color without the aggressive spread seen in some landscape-focused verbenas.
Lanai® Blue vs. Other Verbena Varieties
Lanai® Blue serves as the cool-toned foundation of the Lanai® Series, prized for its clean blue-violet color and compact, container-friendly habit. Within the lineup, it is known for balance—never overpowering, never fading—and for holding color well in summer heat. Compared to Lanai® Lilac, Blue reads cooler and more saturated, while offering more restraint than Lanai® Scarlet. It lacks the bicolor playfulness of Candy Cane but compensates with versatility and consistency. Lanai® Blue is the most adaptable cool-color option in the series.
Against EnduraScape™ Blue, Lanai® Blue is smaller and more controlled, trading landscape spread for container precision. Compared to Black Velvet, it is lighter and more flexible in design, though less dramatic. Unlike unpatented Lollipop, which grows tall and airy, Lanai® Blue stays compact and intentional. Gardeners who want blue color in pots, baskets, or tight borders will consistently favor Lanai® Blue.
