More About Delphinium ‘Magic Fountains Lavender White Bee’

Delphinium ‘Magic Fountains Lavender White Bee’ has a softness to it that I really appreciate in the garden. The tall flower spikes are packed with clear lavender blooms, each one centered with a crisp white bee that gives the whole spike depth and definition. That little white eye keeps the color from feeling flat and adds a refined, layered look. It brings height and elegance, but in a gentle way. It performs best in rich, well amended soil with steady moisture and good air circulation. Removing spent flower spikes after the first bloom will often encourage a second, lighter flush later in the season, especially in cooler climates.

Like the rest of the Magic Fountains series, this selection is far more manageable than the towering Delphiniums many of us grew up with. It stays compact and upright, and the stems are noticeably sturdier, which means far less staking and propping. You still get that signature vertical drama that makes Delphiniums so special, but in a form that works in real gardens where you cannot baby every plant.

Why We Like It (Our Trials)

At Garden Delivery, ‘Magic Fountains Lavender White Bee’ has consistently impressed us with its balance of color, structure, and reliability. In our trials here in Upstate South Carolina, it produced strong, upright spikes with excellent flower clarity and far less flopping than traditional tall Delphiniums. The lavender and white combination holds its tone nicely and does not muddy out as temperatures climb.

I especially like recommending this variety to gardeners who want something softer than a deep cobalt blue or stark white Delphinium. It pairs effortlessly with pastel perennials, silver foliage, and classic cottage companions like roses and foxgloves. As a cut flower, it adds height and grace to arrangements without stealing the show. It is refined, dependable, and easy to design with, which is exactly what I look for in a Delphinium.

Lavender White Bee vs. Other Delphinium Varieties

Lavender White Bee is the softest and most decorative of the Magic Fountains selections, thanks to its two-toned lavender flowers with white centers. Compared to Blue Sky White Bee, it feels warmer and more cottage-like, while Blue Sky leans cleaner and cooler. When placed beside Magic Fountains Pure White, Lavender White Bee adds depth and detail, whereas Pure White keeps things crisp and formal. Against Magic Fountains Mix, Lavender White Bee offers more control and predictability instead of a mixed color effect. Structurally, it behaves just as well as the others, staying upright and compact without constant staking. I reach for Lavender White Bee when I want a gentle, romantic look that still holds its shape.
