More About Crazytunia® ‘Bananarama’
‘Bananarama’ brings pure, high-energy color to the garden—this is not a soft pastel yellow, but a saturated, banana-bright bloom that jumps out from across the garden center. The flowers are large, plentiful, and consistent, giving containers a full, finished look early in the season and keeping that look going well into summer.
As part of the Crazytunia® series, ‘Bananarama’ is bred to stay more controlled than traditional spreading petunias. Instead of stretching or thinning out, it builds a dense canopy of foliage and flowers, making it especially useful where clean edges and structure matter. It also pairs beautifully with purples, blues, and deep reds for high-contrast combinations.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, Crazytunia® ‘Bananarama’ stood out for its color stability and overall balance. The yellow stayed bright without fading or washing out, even during extended heat, and the plants maintained a neat, rounded shape without aggressive growth. That makes it far easier to manage than many older yellow petunias.
We also like how dependable it is in mixed containers. It plays well with other annuals instead of overpowering them, and it doesn’t require constant pinching to stay attractive. When we want bold color that still behaves in real-world garden conditions, ‘Bananarama’ earns its spot every time.
Crazytunia® Bananarama vs. Other Petunias
Within the Crazytunia® Series, Bananarama stands out for pure, saturated color rather than pattern or contrast. While Crazytunia® Black & White leans heavily into dramatic, high-contrast bicolor tones, Bananarama brings brightness and energy with its bold banana-yellow blooms. It shares the same compact, well-branched structure typical of the series, but visually it reads much lighter and more playful. Compared to the darker Crazytunias like Black Mamba, it reflects more light and feels more cheerful in containers.
Compared to the Supertunia® Series, Crazytunia® Bananarama is more controlled and less aggressive in spread, making it easier to manage in mixed containers. Supertunias prioritize coverage and vigor, while Crazytunias emphasize novelty and compact balance. Against a Yellow Petunia like Bee’s Knees, Bananarama offers a tighter habit and stronger branching. Bee’s Knees tends to be more upright and uniform, while Bananarama feels fuller and more relaxed. If you want yellow with structure and personality, Bananarama clearly differentiates itself.
