More About Verbena ‘EnduraScape™ Burgundy’
Verbena ‘EnduraScape™ Burgundy’ delivers rich, dark burgundy-red blooms held in tight clusters above a neat mound of foliage. The deep, warm tones create dramatic impact and contrast beautifully with both cool and bright companion plants in mixed borders or containers.
Part of the EnduraScape™ series, this variety was bred for uniform growth, nonstop flowering, and dependable performance in heat and humidity. Its tidy habit resists stretching, providing consistent garden coverage from late spring through the first heavy frosts.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, ‘EnduraScape™ Burgundy’ stood out for its bold color intensity and vigorous, continuous bloom production. It thrives in full sun and strong summer conditions without losing vibrancy or compact form.
We especially like how the deep burgundy hues add depth and richness to plantings — the color holds well in bright sunlight and creates a striking backdrop for lighter foliage and blooms.
EnduraScape™ Burgundy vs. Other Varieties
EnduraScape™ Burgundy fills the dark, moody color slot in the EnduraScape™ lineup, offering deep red-wine blooms with strong contrast potential. It is known for holding color exceptionally well in heat, outperforming many red-toned verbenas that fade or thin in summer. Compared to EnduraScape™ Red, Burgundy is richer and more subdued, while still delivering strong visual weight. Against Purple Fizz, it brings warmth rather than cool saturation.
Against the Lanai® Series, EnduraScape™ Burgundy provides far more spread and perennial persistence, while Lanai® Scarlet offers a brighter, more seasonal red effect. The closest comparison to Burgundy is Lascar™ Black Velvet, which is darker and more dramatic but lacks the same cold tolerance. Burgundy sits between the two—richer than Lanai®, but more broadly adaptable than the Lascar™ Series. For gardeners wanting depth and intensity without sacrificing landscape reliability, EnduraScape™ Burgundy is a clear winner.
