More About Calibrachoa ‘Superbells® Double Amber’
Double Calibrachoa can sometimes be hit or miss, but this one never flinches. I still remember the moment ‘Superbells® Double Amber’ sold me for good. It was the middle of Summer, in the upper 90s and even our best containers start to show a little stress. I was walking the rows early in the morning, coffee in hand, seeing what needed water, and this plant stopped me cold. While a few neighboring containers were clearly asking for a break, ‘Double Amber’ looked like it had just been freshly planted—full, glossy, and absolutely loaded with those layered, rose-like blooms.
By late Summer, it had become one of the containers customers kept asking about. More than once, someone leaned in, touched the flowers, and asked if they were “real” because they looked almost too perfect. That’s when I knew ‘Superbells® Double Amber’ wasn’t just performing well—it was creating that wow moment without extra effort on our end. For me, that combination of beauty, toughness, and consistency is what earns a permanent spot in our Calibrachoa lineup year after year.
Double Amber vs. Other Calibrachoa Varieties
Double Amber is one of the richest and most substantial selections within the double-flowered Superbells® Lineup. Compared to Double Twilight, which leans cooler and more dramatic with deeper, moodier tones, Double Amber reads brighter and more approachable, bringing warmth without heaviness. When set beside Doublette Love Swept, the contrast becomes one of saturation and intent—Double Amber delivers fuller, golden-amber color with more visual weight, while Love Swept favors a softer, romantic blush and a gentler overall presence.
When compared to Cha-Cha™Series, Double Amber feels more substantial and composed, with thicker petals and a less playful, more luxurious look. Cabaret® Selections—particularly in darker or refined tones—tend to emphasize control and polish, while Double Amber embraces abundance and fullness. Used alongside Colibri® Pure White, its warm amber tones become even more luminous, creating crisp contrast and visual clarity. Paired with Calitastic® Cappuccino, Double Amber forms a rich, coffee-and-cream color story that feels intentional, elevated, and designer-driven—ideal for containers that aim to feel warm, sophisticated, and visually indulgent rather than bright or trendy.
