More About Lantana ‘Bandana® Cherry’
Lantana ‘Bandana® Cherry’ is valued for its rich, saturated cherry-red flower clusters that deliver bold, consistent color throughout the growing season. Unlike multi-toned lantanas that shift shades as blooms mature, this variety offers a clean, uniform red that reads clearly from a distance and creates strong visual impact in sunny plantings. The color remains intense even during peak summer heat, ensuring reliable performance when other plants begin to fade.
As part of the Bandana® Series, this selection was bred for compact growth, strong branching, and improved garden control. It delivers the nonstop flowering and heat tolerance lantanas are known for, but in a tidy, mounded form that avoids the legginess and sprawl of older varieties. This makes it equally effective in containers, borders, and mixed landscape beds.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, ‘Bandana® Cherry’ has proven extremely dependable in full sun and summer heat, continuing to flower steadily through drought once established. It maintains a neat, well-shaped habit with minimal maintenance and little need for pruning.
We especially appreciate its versatility in design. The solid red blooms work beautifully in patriotic plantings, bold summer containers, and high-impact landscape beds. Butterflies and bees visit regularly, adding pollinator value to its strong, consistent display.
Bandana® Cherry vs. Other Lantana Varieties
Bandana® Cherry delivers deep cherry-red blooms with subtle tonal variation, giving it more dimension than other Bandana® Selections. Compared to Bandana® Red, Cherry feels slightly softer and more complex, while still maintaining strong color impact. It contrasts nicely with brighter varieties like Pink or Yellow and pairs beautifully with Gold for a warm palette. Compared to larger multi-tone Lantanas, Cherry keeps its color and shape more consistent throughout the season.
Bandana® Cherry delivers deeper color saturation and a more substantial plant than Lucky® and Little Lucky™ red-pink blends, which are better suited for tight spacing. Lucky Series plants excel in uniformity, but Bandana® Cherry offers more visual depth in mixed borders. Compared to Dallas Red, Cherry is more refined and compact, offering rich color without the larger, more dominant stature.
