‘Bandana® Gold’ is one of the cleanest, brightest Lantanas we grow. The flower clusters are a clear, saturated gold that holds strong from Late Spring through the peak of Summer without washing out. In big, sunny beds, that color reads almost like a spotlight, instantly lifting the space and catching attention from across the property. Even during stretches of intense heat, when lesser yellows can fade toward pale cream, this one keeps its richness and clarity.
As part of the Bandana® Series, it was bred for compact growth, strong branching, and uniform performance from plant to plant. Instead of stretching or sprawling by midseason, it builds into a dense, rounded mound that looks composed and intentional. You still get the nonstop bloom cycle and durability Lantana is known for, but in a controlled form that works just as well in polished containers as it does in landscape mass plantings. It is bold without being unruly, which makes it easy to design with.
One Summer a few years ago, we had a stretch of relentless heat with very little rain, and ‘Bandana® Gold’ was planted in a front bed that receives reflected heat off a gravel drive. By July, some neighboring annuals were clearly stressed, but the Gold kept pumping out bloom clusters like nothing was wrong. That was the moment it earned permanent space in our production plan. Another season, we used it heavily in large patio containers paired with deep purple Salvia and silver foliage. Customers kept commenting on how clean and bright the yellow looked, even from the parking lot. Butterflies were constantly working the blooms, and bees were active from morning until late afternoon.
In landscape installations, we have massed it along sunny walkways where visibility matters. It creates a strong ribbon of color that defines edges and brightens entrances. It holds its rounded habit without constant trimming, which means less labor for us and less maintenance for homeowners. Whether in containers, borders, or larger plantings, ‘Bandana® Gold’ has proven to be one of those dependable, hardworking varieties that performs through heat, drought, and long seasons without losing its punch.
Gold offers a warmer, richer yellow tone than Bandana® Yellow, with golden-orange undertones that add depth to plantings. Within the Bandana® Series, it bridges the gap between Yellow and Bandana® Peach, making it highly versatile in mixed color schemes. Compared to Lemon Zest, Gold reads more classic and less electric, which many gardeners prefer for traditional landscapes.
Compared to Lucky® and Little Lucky™ gold-toned varieties, Bandana® Gold offers a richer, warmer hue on a plant with greater presence in beds. Lucky selections stay smaller and denser, making them ideal for small containers, while Bandana® Gold bridges container and landscape use seamlessly. It also provides a more compact, controlled alternative to groundcover-style gold lantanas like New Gold. Bandana® Gold is a perfect choice for gardeners who want warm, classic color with a tidy, reliable habit that looks just as good in containers as it does in the landscape.
