More About Petunia ‘Supertunia® Mini Vista™ Midnight’
‘Mini Vista™ Midnight’ is the dark counterpart to the white and pink Mini Vista selections, offering the same unstoppable growth with a moodier, more dramatic color palette. The blooms are smaller, but they appear in such high numbers that the plant reads as a solid blanket of deep purple from a distance.
This variety excels where coverage matters. It spreads quickly, knits together tightly, and keeps flowering without thinning out—even during summer heat. In large containers, it spills gracefully, while in the landscape it functions almost like an annual groundcover.
Why We Like It (Our Trials)
In our trials, Supertunia® Mini Vista™ Midnight proved itself as a true workhorse. It was one of the fastest petunias to cover space and maintained dense bloom coverage longer than most darker varieties, which often struggle in heat.
We especially like using it to anchor bright color schemes. It pairs beautifully with whites, yellows, and chartreuse foliage, creating contrast that holds up all season. When we need maximum performance with a deeper, more dramatic tone, this is the Mini Vista we reach for.
Supertunia® Mini Vista™ Midnight vs. Other Petunias
Mini Vista™ Midnight delivers the Vista look in a lower, denser form. The deep purple blooms create a dark, carpeted effect that reads almost like an annual groundcover. Compared to Mini Vista™ White, Midnight feels heavier and more dramatic, while White brightens and expands visually. Against full-size Vista® Jazzberry, Midnight is more controlled and refined. Against standard Supertunias, Midnight wins on density. Traditional spreaders leave gaps; Mini Vista knits together. It still covers ground quickly, just without the overwhelming height.
Mini Vista™ Midnight separates itself from other dark Petunias like Crazytunia® Black Mamba through scale and habit rather than sheer darkness. While Black Mamba stays compact and upright, Mini Vista Midnight spreads low and wide, forming a dense, groundcover-like carpet instead of a contained mound. Black Magic pushes closer to true near-black tones, whereas Mini Vista Midnight reads as a deep, saturated purple that blankets space rather than punctuates it. Mini Vista™ Midnight is the better choice when the goal is maximum coverage and dramatic color at ground level, not just dark blooms in a container.
